Ac 1944 walther p38

The Walther P38 originally written Walther P. It was intended to replace the costly Luger P08the production of which was scheduled to end in The first designs submitted to the German Army featured a locked breech and a hidden hammer, but the Heer German Army requested that it be redesigned with an external hammer. The P38 concept was accepted by the German military in but production of prototype "Test" pistols did not begin until late Walther began manufacture at their plant in Zella-Mehlis and produced three series of "Test" pistols, designated by a "0" prefix to the serial number.

The third series pistols satisfactorily solved the previous problems for the Heer and mass production began in mid, using Walther's military production identification code "". After a few thousand pistols the Heer changed all codes from numbers to letters and Walther was given the "ac" code. Several experimental versions were later created in. From an engineering perspective the P38 was a semi-automatic pistol design that introduced technical features that are found in other semi-automatic pistols like the Beretta 92 and its M9 sub-variant adopted by the United States military.

The shooter could chamber a round, use the safety- decocking lever to safely lower the hammer without firing the round, and carry the weapon loaded. This lever can stay down, keeping the pistol "on safe" or be immediately returned to the straight position, keeping the weapon safely "ready" with a double-action trigger pull for the first shot.

Pulling the trigger cocks the hammer before firing the first shot with double-action operation. The firing mechanism extracts and ejects the first spent round, cocks the hammer, and chambers a fresh round for single-action operation with each subsequent shot — all features found in many modern day handguns. The moving-barrel design mechanism operates by use of a wedge-shaped falling locking block underneath the breech. When the pistol is fired both the barrel and slide recoil for a short distance together, where the locking block drives down, disengaging the slide and arresting further rearward movement of the barrel.

The slide however continues its rearward movement on the frame, ejecting the spent case and cocking the hammer before reaching the end of travel.

Two return springs located on either side of the frame and below the slide, having been compressed by the slide's rearward movement, drive the slide forward, stripping a new round from the magazine, driving it into the breech and, in the process, re-engaging the barrel; ending its return travel with a fresh round chambered, hammer cocked and ready to repeat the process.

The falling locking block design provides good accuracy due to the in-line travel of the barrel and slide. Initial production P38 pistols were fitted with walnut grips, but these were later supplanted by Bakelite grips. Post war P1 grips were made of black colored plastic. The Walther P38 was in production from to The left ear at the rear of the barrel is marked with an Eagle holding a Nazi marked Globe.

There is a tiny compression mark in the front strap, another in the bottom of the trigger guard and two compression marks in the lower left edge of the frame above the front of the trigger guard. The grip screw is sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly.

The double action trigger pull is a very stiff, and the single action pull has a small amount of creep. The slide is tight to the frame. We did not fire this pistol. The Guns. The different P38 variations produced during the nazi-regime will be discussed on this page. This pistol had a concealed hammer and extractor. Only a handfull of those pistols were produced because the German army decided to go for the more advanced P The grips have a very distinct look.

They are checkered and have round loopholes for the lanyard. Production started halfway About This variation is produced between june and may The Walther banner and P38 model indication are stamped on the left side of the slide with the serial number next to it.

The bakelite grips are black checkered and have a round loophole for the lanyard. Most of the P38 pistols produced after this variation have rectangular loopholes. In the German army decided to use secret codes on weapons to designate the manufacture. The Germans were afraid that the Allied forces could easily locate the German weapon production sites and bomb them when they knew the manufacturer.

The serial number was stamped on the slide. A schematical drawing is shown below. In addition to the secret code the last two digits of the year of production were also stamped on the slide.

Most of the serial numbers also have a suffix letter. Walther used serial numbers ranging from 1 to 10, The firm started over at 1 when the number 10, was reached. To ensure that every pistol had a unique serial number, the Germans added a suffix letter.

The letter went up one character each time the serial number once more started at 1. At the beginning of a new year, both the serial numbers and suffix letters again started over. The first 10, pistols produced at the start of the year had no suffix letter. From this combination it is easy to determine the production date of the pistol. The goal of every P38 manufacturer was to produce So every month started with a higher suffix letter. In the years after, fewer and fewer parts were stamped with this mark.

In the Mauser factory started the production of P38 pistols to fulfill the huge demand for these pistols by the German army. Mauser employed a comparable serial numbering system to the one used by Walther. Mauser started over at serial number 1 each time the number 10, was reached. On arrival you are met by a driver who hands over your bag with your mobile phone (with NV's contact details preprogrammed in), another huge road map book and your various trip vouchers.

Nordic Visitor offer a first class service and should be rightly proud of all the excellent feedback they get.

We were concerned about the potential costs in Iceland, but now we are home and reviewing our spend, we think the holiday cost is excellent value and we were not as horrified by the overall further costs as we had expected to be.

Our 4x4 Ford Kuga was actually surprisingly economical with fuel. We chose the 'quality' room package for the Iceland Full Circle self drive and were more than happy with all the accommodations we had except one 'blip' which we were pleased that NV's response as soon as we got home and confirmed in more detail what we had reported by phone at the time.

Now we are home, our advice is that this is a well planned tour to see the main highlights all the way round - with just enough time for your detours for photo's, hiking or various other pursuits - depending upon sunset times for your trip.

If doing again we would break the trip over in Eggilsstadr for one night, and use the time available to go over to Seydisffjordur and the perhaps down the Lagarfljot area - we had to push through here onto Myvatn and wondered if we were missing much, plus that is a long days drive.

I think we would also have an extra night at Hotel Budir at the end of the trip, it Emily The Nordic Countries Express, September 2013 Able to focus on the sightseeing experience I would recommend Nordic Visitor to anyone who wants to travel in Scandinavia. My husband and I were able to focus on the sightseeing experience knowing that all of our accommodations and transportation between cities were taken care of. We received all of the materials we needed and our travel consultant marked our hotels and train stations on maps to assist us in new cities.

I can't say anything negative about the experience.

The small size of the group made it comfortable and welcoming. No charge for single accommodations is an added plus. Thank you for the itinerary and organisation. While I was excited about visiting Iceland with my family (2 adults and 2 20-something sons), I knew that I was not going to have the time to plan my trip due to my busy spring work schedule.

Nordic Visitor made the trip so easy and took care of everything from cars, to hotels and even booking some activities upfront. He attacks from angles rather than straight lines. Rigondeaux is very patient on the back foot and has exceptional timing but I think Lomachenko will be too busy and too big physically.

What a match up. No one has more ability than this pair. Both have got talent pouring out of their ears. Both have got great attributes and can win any fight on their best day. Rigondeaux is the more experienced and very sharp. He might be able to catch Lomachenko and deliver the knockout blow.

So, IOW, after the fight ends, there will either be 11 experts who are no longer experts, or 3 experts who are no longer experts. My head is spinning. And someone posted yesterday that around the time of the weigh-in, Vegas odds were 2.

There are a lot of different storylines at play on Sunday, when the 10-2 Eagles visit the 9-3 Rams at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in what will likely be the biggest game of Week 14.

Not only will the game feature a matchup of two of the top teams in the NFC, it will also be the first head-to-head matchup between Rams quarterback (and former No.

Then there's the whole Eagles-practicing-in-LA angle, as well as the comparisons between the two upstart teams' young coaches, Doug Pederson and Sean McVay. But perhaps the most interesting angle is something I came across earlier on Friday while rounding up the experts' picks from around the country. It came from NFL.

ac 1944 walther p38

The Eagles will try to make this a grind it out rushing attack game, as the Rams' biggest weakness is defending the run. The Eagles have a significant advantage on the ground, while I don't see a big difference in these two teams through the air. I admittedly do not feel great about this game. It seems like a good opportunity for a bounce back, but you think back over the last month or so and there have been a fair amount of slow starts against good and bad completion alike.

Playing with fire on a weekly basis will eventually come back and burn you. But given their performance so far this season, I think Pederson, Wentz and the gang deserve some benefit of the doubt to prove they can bounce back. And besides, this could end up being a borderline home game for the Eagles.

The network broadcasting the game is hiring Rams fans to show up for pre-game, for crying out loud. It wasn't easy to pick the Eagles in this one, especially since I picked them a week ago and was wrong.
